Double Dragon: The Final Fight

In Metro City, all of the gangs have been consolidated under new management. Their first order of business: kidnap a daughter, a girlfriend, and a fiancé.

Prologue: The New Shadow Boss

The light from a full moon broke through the clouds over the cemetery, revealing a shadow as it made its way towards a particular grave. This dark shadow seemed to have a life of its own as it existed without an object to cast it, and it didn’t even fade in the moonlight. Soon, the shadow slowly began to lift itself off of the ground, taking a human-like form. As it reached out to touch the tombstone, it whispered, “I can’t believe anyone actually bothered to bury this guy.” As the shadowy figure chanted an ancient incantation, the moon’s light faded, and darkness again covered the cemetery. As the all-consuming shadows seeped into the grave, a small smile appeared on the face of the shadow. “Yes,” whispered the shadow as a transparent hand caressed the top of the stone, “yes, you’ll do nicely.” The shadow faded into nothingness, as if it were never there to begin with.

The following day, there was a beautiful memorial service. The weather had done its best to accommodate the mourners as they mourned their loved ones. There were quite a few people present, because this was a day set aside to remember those who had been lost to the Gang Wars. There were friends, family, and even vagabonds in attendance. Everyone in town knew who the mayor’s “street cleaning crew” was, as they were rightfully appreciated as the heroes of Metro City. It was this group of heroes that encouraged the peoples’ spirit to rebuild after such turmoil. As the event concluded and the friends and family began to leave for home or the repast, three men remained for a while longer. The largest of the three turned to a not so distant grave and snarled. The tombstone had been vandalized several times, and obviously no one had bothered to clean it up. A rancid smell seemed to hover around it and several objects of questionable origin and purpose lay before it. It was that man’s fault for this city’s trauma, such evil that had repercussions even from beyond the grave. The other two put a hand on each shoulder, calming him just enough for him to turn around and sigh, wiping a single tear. They began to leave, when one of them stopped and looked at an area of some trees and bushes. The blond called out to the dark-haired guy, who glanced back one last time before returning to his brothers-in-arms.
Silence then spread throughout the cemetery. Only the admins were left on site in their building, and the grounds crews were to start tending to the graves in about twenty minutes. “Yes, that will be plenty of time.” The shadow emerged from the area that the dark-haired guy had been staring at after about ten minutes. “I may have to be careful around that one.” It made its way to the tombstone once more to place a fist-sized blue stone on the ground, which then sank into the grave as if it were water. The shadow glanced at the tombstone once more.



The following morning the police were on the lookout for a grave robber, as the grounds crew had found the grave partially dug out and the body missing. The public wouldn’t know for quite some time that the hole appeared to have been dug up from the coffin out.
